Living Waters Counseling, Inc.

Organization History and Context:

Living Waters Counseling, Inc. was founded by Dr. Virginia Mayer because of an identified need to provide affordable mental health to those that had no access to mental health. She believes God gave her a vision with the complete outline of what to build and how to build this organization.

Living Waters Counseling has archived the business plan that was the growing seed of the vision that God gave Dr. Mayer. Historically, many people have contributed to the growth and development of this very prosperous ministry. However, the measure of success for this ministry-based counseling group has never been measured in money, but rather in the numbers served in the community.

Because Living Waters Counseling, Inc. is a faith-based Christian counseling ministry, no one is turned away for services based on the socioeconomic group, ethnicity, gender, age, or faith. All peoples are welcome to request and receive services from Living Waters Counseling, Inc.

Stakeholders:

(1) Local pastors: Pastors receive very little training in counseling if any at all. The local pastors serve as a referral source for the professional counseling services, as well as members of the community interested in building community awareness of Christian mental health.

(2) Local physicians: Many physicians serve as a referral source because they come in contact with so many people that have no funds for mental health services.

(3) Local schools: Schools have crisis situations, i.e. student suicides, deployment issues with parents, bullying, divorce care for students. The school counselors reach out to us to help support when crisis comes to school.

(4) Local civic groups: Groups such as Kiwanis, and Lion’s Club, call on us to present community awareness on Christian-based mental health.

Mission Statement:

To provide cost-free professional Christian counseling to those that can not afford professional mental health services.
