Good morning!
The Lord has brought something to my attention that made my heart just glow! He has been talking to me about ‘not eating of the food of the world’s table.’ I have asked Him to please keep me on track about what not to eat. Consider this, Romans 14:17 – 23 “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do danything else that will cause your brother to fall. So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin”(NIV, Rainbow Study Bible) .
Wow! Truly? I have heard these verses presented on many Sunday mornings throughout my life – presented in various manners, dissections, and interpretations. This morning I am sensing that God really wasn’t concerned with whether or not we are vegan or a meat-eater, as long as what and when we eat is done from His Word. I really don’t think He wants us to bow to religious rules, laws, and other people’s opinions as to what or when we should do anything – unless He directs it … we need to not bother with it. If at the center of what we are doing, whether it is eating, working, praying, Jesus Christ is not the central point of focus, we need to walk away.
Consider Romans 14:17 again…”For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in The Holy Spirit…”
Can I suggest that this is God’s protection for us against deception brought on by the enemy ? I believe it is! Keeping the Righteousness of Christ as central in our life is the ultimate protection against the lie of the enemy for us to ‘eat from the food of the world’s table’ – which is fear, deception, control, pride, prejudice, and all things bad for our health, both physical, emotional, and spiritual. Protection from deception!
Keep Psalm 37:4 in your heart, “Delight yourself in The Lord, and He will give you ALL the desires of your heart!”
Blessings,
Ginger
